Remove Dark Circle -

Treatment Side Effects

The procedure to address the cosmetic problem of dark circles under eye is normally very safe and will cause few problems for most patients. However, there are some side effects for people who are considering this treatment to be aware of.

It is common for the patients to experience discomfort and pain after the treatment. Typically the doctor will prescribe pain medication to make this discomfort easier to deal with. Patients should note that this pain medication may have its own side effects. Pain or discomfort after this procedure should not be severe, however, and if severe pain is experienced, it is important for patients to call their doctors right away.

In addition to pain, patients may experience anxiety or depression after their dark circles under eye treatment. Patients are more likely to have side effects and complications from the treatment if they have problems with their thyroids, including underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and overactive thyroid (Graves’ disease). The treatment is also more risky for patients who experience other eye problems, including insufficient tears or any type of dry eye condition. Those with detached retinas or glaucoma may not be ideal candidates for this kind of dark circles treatment.

Cosmetic dermatologists will usually recommend that this type of patient see his or her eye doctor before going ahead with the treatment. Lastly, people with diabetes, heart disease, or hypertension may experience riskier procedures than those without these conditions. Any patient who has significant risk factors for complications during this treatment will be evaluated by the cosmetic dermatologist and, if the physician feels the patient’s health condition is too fragile, there may be other treatment options recommended for dark under eye circles.

During the initial consultation, the patient can converse with the doctor about his or her individual situation and voice their concerns about the procedure.
